The Grammy Award-winning ensemble Portugal. the Man, approached me with their concept, “to create lush, beautifully draped florals throughout the stage made of ultra-realistic fake red roses”. With just seven days before the tour set off, my team and I began the fabrication of intricate floral cages, climbing organic shapes and mounted 3’ tall letters, all adorned with an excess of 3500 faux roses.
The debut album, Chris Black Changed My Life, was the primary source of material of the tour. Chris Black, the band's chief hype man and friend unexpectedly passed away in 2019. His departure served as inspiration for the album and tribute to his memory. Designing this project with Chris in mind, coincidentally also a friend of mine, a charismatic luminary, was a meaningful and extraordinary endeavor.
